Class dates: April 16 and 18, 2019 (both dates must be attended in order to recieve a certificate of completion)

Course Description: An introductory course in building engineering geared towards design and construction professionals covering mechanical and electrical equipment for buildings. This fundamental course will address mechanical and electrical systems and equipment for both commercial and residential buildings. Topics will include thermal control, electricity and electrical systems, lighting, environmental resources, energy, water and plumbing - water distribution, drainage, design challenges, sites and resources. It will examine climates as it pertains to analyzing a site, site design strategies, direct sun and daylight, rain and ground water, comfort and design Strategies for cooling and heating, understanding how heat flow into and out of a building through the various components of the building envelope and ventilation or infiltration.
